I wounder if there could be life out there past the stars?

"If aliens visit us, the outcome would be much as when Columbus landed in America, which didn't turn out well for the Native Americans." -Stephen Hawking

So I was sitting at home watching Doctor Who and I was thinking, what if there is other life out there? Space is so huge that we cannot even scarcely fathom the scale of how big space is. How can we be so naive to think that we are so special to be the only life in the universe? We are a pin prick to our galaxy, and our galaxy is a pin prick to space. According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe. Astronomers using NASA data calculate that in our galaxy alone there are at least 8.8 billion Earth-sized planets that are not too hot or not too cold and circle stars that are just like our sun. So if there are just that many plants in one of the one hundred billion galaxies think of the possibilities of some sort of life out there. And what do you consider life? Our concept of life can be totally off too. Just thinking about this while writing is making my head hurt. Now we can be the only ones, who knows for sure? We will never know until one day a big headed green alien dude steps on our planet and says', "hey!"

Well that's all I have to say about that. Just a small little thing I wanted to talk about tonight, may venture back on this topic again someday. well off to bed and hope for good dreams. Maybe that will be my next post?
